Doc McGhee- Emperor McGhee!

splashed some colour over suzzzzaannnnne- I had to look at this using a mirror like the Medusa- so that her 1000 yard stare didn't bore into my very soul like a laser through granite...

This started as a cariature, then it became more realistic, then I lost control and overdid the cross hatching!

The 'Doc' is hard to get, I deliberately didn't do any 'hatching' this time around

Colour has helped with this one...

Spooky and Sue...

Cadillac in colour
Huck in colour
Spooky von glitter - Clementine's rather impressive piercings and hair colouration makes caricature quite easy.. wish they were all this simple to do

Suzanne's 1000 yard stare cuts through you like a stiletto....

Eric Singer

People often ask me..Nick, who’s the nicest guy in ‘Rock’n’Roll’? to which I reply, “Brian May”, followed by Michael Anthony, Billy F Gibbons, Graham Bonnet etc, anyway, 37th on that List is this man, Eric Singer.

The consummate profession, and never a bad word to say about anyone, with a resume that would impress the most hardened rock and roll cynic. Singer has been keep the backbeat in kiss alive (sic) on and off since 1992.

His cheery demeanour and boundless enthusiasm make him one of the more impressive characters in the somewhat shady world of ‘rock’n’roll’... Mr Singer time keeper extraordinaire we salute you!!

Corabi, Huck Johns and Alice Cooper

Here’s the finished print ad’ – the graphic designer at the magazine has changed the typeface and added the contact info- I think it looks great- I particularly like the translucent address box, nice touch!

I’ve had another crack at John Corabi- this one came out more like a straight ahead ink drawing than caricature, I think my previous attempt is better, it has more character.

I designed a ‘Crab Gumbo’ logo, the claws suggested the letter ‘C’ to me.I did it separately and superimposed it, I wasn’t sure if Crabby would like it..It was what he called his ‘myspace’ blog, I think it would be a good name for an album...

Added a dash of colour...

Huck Johns of Black Robot – he has a youngish face a bit like Eminem and was sporting a ‘great Gatsby’ cap.

Alice Cooper, considering he has such Strong features he’s surprisingly hard to caricature...He’s such an influential and important figure in rock – a TRUE icon..

www.felineguitars.com.

This is a slight twist; it’s a caricature - only not of a human being. My buddy Jonathan Law over at www.felineguitars .com asked me to come up with a whimsical but striking print and internet advertisement. Both to pep up his summer business whilst people are pre-occupied with holidays and the world Cup 2010 and to try to develop a character that they can use in further Ad’ campaigns.

I decided to use a ‘Les paul’ (or ‘Lion’ series- guitar) as feline hand build extremely high quality versions of these with aflame maple top and hand carved heel joint. They are becoming more and more known for these instruments so it made the most sense to focus on this guitar as the main character

I tinted the image using very bold, bright colours as summer time suggests intense light and deep shadows. Also this creates a cheery optimistic mood that makes people think about summer holidays past and present.

Here’s the final version, there are still some contact details to be added for the print version but I’m happy with the composition, I don’t feel that it’s too cluttered.

Jon was delighted with this cartoon and I’m look forward to developing this character in the near future.
